These remind me of
Ginger thins but they don't cost
$5 a box
Slightly Sweet Crackers
(makes about 20)
Ingredients:
- 1/3 c canola oil
- 2/3 c warm water
- 1/4 c molasses
- 1 t salt
- 1 t dried orange peel
- 1/2 t dried ginger
- 2 T sunflower seeds, oatmeal, sesame seeds, or whatever you've got
- 1/3 c raisins, candied ginger, craisins, whatever
- 2 c whole wheat flour
Instructions:
- Mix everything in a bowl just until the dough comes together. It will be a bit wet.
- Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper and smoosh/roll/spread the dough over as much of the cookie sheet as you can. Small holes in the dough are okay.
- Dust with sugar and score into about 20 pieces with a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 25-35 minutes, depending on how chewy you like them.
Notes:
- This recipe was adapted from this blog. I love how she chose to bake them at 375 because that's her oven's default temperature. My kind of girl.
- You can make savory crackers by exchanging the canola oil for olive oil, and the molasses and spices for about 1 teaspoon each: garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and tamari (trust me). If the dough is dry, add a bit more water. Dust the tops with salt and pepper.
Enjoy,
Tofu
